The tale of Gensou Sangokushi: Tengen Reishinki takes place in China during the Three Kingdoms era, when numerous warlords and armies struggle to conquer and unite the country. The conflicts of these strong martial heroes pique the interest of the Mouryou King, the hideous ruler of evil spirits who seeks to prolong the fight and destroy the human world. To counter the Mouryou King's wickedness, an organization called Tengen develops anti-Mouryou armies that fight all throughout China, but when the 6th anti-Mouryou corps is abruptly wiped out, a ragtag band of adventurers is collected to replace them and establish the new 6th anti-Mouryou corps.
